I would like to thank everyone who donated an item for the silent auction, the time spent on planning the benefit, and all the support the day of the event. With your help we were able to raise over $9000.

WOW

The benefit today was AMAZING...the place was filled with many people coming to support the family. We ended up having a total of 119 items in the silent auction...alot of the items had a few different donations within the basket or combine package. There was not one silent auction that didnt get bid on...THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR ALL THE SUPPORT.

Silent Auction Items

Well, planning for the benefit is still going strong...

We have an Autographed photo of Adrian Peterson courtesy of the MN Vikings, Saints and Twins Items, Gopher tickets for October 3rd, Golf packages, hotel rooms, and many gift cards for different places.

The support of the community has been amazing...Thank you so much

Funeral Information

Dave's funeral will be September 22, 2009 with visitation from 10 am - 11 am and the funeral service at 11 am. Everything will take place at Amazing Grace Luthern Church, 7160 South Robert Trail, Inver Grove Heights, MN 55077. There will be a luncheon immediately after the service. Burial will possibly be the following day at Fort Snelling National Cemetary due to complications with times availible, so it will probably be the immediate family or whoever would like to attend once it is scheduled.

There will be a small obituary in tomorrow's (9/15/09) St Paul Pioneer Press paper.

Sad News

I am very sad to write that Dave passed away this morning at 11:54. His family was by his side. They are hanging in there.

The BENEFIT for them on September 27 is STILL GOING TO TAKE PLACE.

We have received tons of items for the silent auction. Thank you so much to the local businesses that have donated. It is much appreciated. Also, a huge THANK YOU to the people that attend Amazing Grace Lutheran Church...they have really been donating like crazy. We had a donation of 3 tickets to the Gopher Game versus Wisconsin on October 3rd. We have lots of gift certificates including hotel stays. This even it going to be great. Hope you all can make it to the benefit.

19 DAYS TO THE BENEFIT

Well, we had another meeting on August 20th and there was a total of 7 that attended. We made alot of headway. Went through a list of businesses to start hitting up donations. Updated the rest of the committee on what had been planned so far.

If anyone works for a company that would be interested in donating anything, please feel free to ask them. As an individual, if you have anything you would be interested in donating, please feel free.

If donating anything, please provide a name and address so I can send thank you notes when the event is over.

We have 34 days left until the Benefit. I am really looking forward to it.

Update

After meeting with Merri, from Amazing Grace Lutheran Church, we are off to a great start on planning.

Here is what it will consist of: Food, Silent Auction, and Bake Sale.

It is on Sunday September 27th, 2009 at Drkulas in Inver Grove Heights from 1-5pm


Donations can all be brought to any TCF location or mailed.
If giving donation directly to bank, please make sure you tell them you want to deposit in the "Dave Alan Johnson Benefit Fund".

I talked to Deb tonight and with her permission, I will be creating a Caringbridge Website. I will update as much as I can. I will be getting updates on Dave's health from Deb and will post on Caringbridge. I will post the caringbridge site on this blog once I get it created...hopefully tomorrow.

Great News

The Benefit planning is coming along great. Spoke to the Youth Director at Amazing Grace Church that the Johnsons attend. Her name is Merri and she is awesome. I just merely called to ask if we could hang a flyer up in the church and mention it in services as it gets closer....Well, she has some ideas and we are going to be getting together to discuss planning. This benefit is going to be GREAT. I cannot wait until it takes place. The Johnson's are a great family and they have had a very tough year. They are always there to help everyone and now it is time they get helped.
